Reformat?

i bought a broken ipod mini 4gb off ebay for cheap and all thats rong with it is when you turn it on it has a forler with exclamation point and then shuts off? so i think that all i need to do is reformat it but i cant cuz it only came with a firewire cable and i only have usb ports on my computer so i need to get the usb wire for it but is that all i need to do to get it working just reformat it?

If your computer will recognize the iPod, unless someone is really that stupid to sell an iPod they think is broken when all you need to do is reformat it.

if my computer dosnt recognize the ipod how would i fix it? would i have to get new microdrive for it?

my computer recognizes the ipod but when i open ipod updaator it freezes and nothing happns? please help

ok first i wana say y dosnt anyone ever help me? anyway i fixd the ipod but now i cant hear the music when i go to lisn to it all i hear is the backround music i can barly hear the words? its like that for every song iv trid changing the headphones and changing the "EQ" settings and none of it worked? please help me!!!

never mind i fixed it!!! i just oppned it up and then i found that the headphone jack wasnt connected all the way so i pushed it in then i made sure the hard drive wire and the battery wire were in all the way then i put it back togather and now it works!!!
