I had this problem with another Mini that was still under warranty and got it replaced. Now it's happened again.
I had to reformat my Windows PC, and I didn't have the iPod software installed. When I plugged in my iPod to the USB port, Windows said "USB Device not recognized" or some such.
I installed the iPod software and updater and iTunes, etc. Now I can connect my iPod and update it via Firewire, but it will not connect or mount using the USB port.
I searched the web and reset it and went into diagnostic mode, and some of those things, but nothing seems to help. When I plug it in, the computer and the iPod don't do anything. The light doesn't come on. I don't get a "Do not Disconnect" message. Windows doesn't make that "new device plugged in" sound. Nothing happens.
Anyone heard of this. This is the second time it's happened to me. And this one is not under warranty.
