hi ive got an ipod mini 4gb and im having a problem with it

i lent it to a buddy of mine and he put a load of music on it which when i got it back i didnt want. so i unistalled it of my machine so i could reinstall it and start from scratch.

now this is where the problem started, during installation process my pc crashed so i had to hit the restart button on my pc. now when i plug my ipod into my machine a- the pc doesnt find the ipod and b- when i remove the ipod from the pc its frozen and i cant do anything with it

so this is where im at with it now ive got an ipod with no music on it (and obviously cant get any music on it) and every time i plug it into my pc the ipod freezes and to be able to do anything with it i have to reset it

any ideas?

You didn't need to uninstall the iPod to delete all the music, you could just use the iPod updater (www.apple.com/ipod/download) to just erase it.
Download the updater from the address above, install it and run it. Then, connect your iPod. After a few seconds the updater should say what model, capacity etc. it is. Click on the "Restore" button and wait until the progress bar completes. It will erase the iPod. If you have a 1st gen mini, you will need to connect it to a wall charger, so do not try all this if you don't have it. With a 2nd gen mini (capacity is noted on the back), you can just leave it connected.

Basically Reboot your iPod ... hold down Menu and Enter (Center button)

that will reboot it..

if it doesnt work after that, somehow restore the iPod using the LATEST iPod Updater found on Apple.com
