select button wont work

ok i recently bought an ipod mini 1st gen ipod mini from ebay with a broken clickwheel ribbon. Than i bought an installed a 1st gen clickwheel in the ipod. Now the select button wont work and every other button will work even the scroller works. The weird thing is that i can reset the mini with the select and menu buttons. So any sugestions?

Wow that's crazy! There's probably something wrong with the cable or you didn't connect it right, doublecheck it and if it still doesnt work then try reformatting it using ipod updater.

yah i tried restoring its messed up i looked at the cable several times and its plugged in perfectly it really wierd
