 I'm a noobie who just got a used Mini 4G second Generation. It was working well till I replaced the weak old battery with a new one. First the play/pause button stopped. then after opening it back up again and detaching and re-atatching the ribon at the bottom, the Select button stopped working. Any suggestions other than using my mini as a paperweight?

almost certain that you have broken the soldered connection on the ribbon connector when you removed the plug. You can resolder them with a special fine point soldering iron but it is not a job to undertake unless you very proficient with soldering. post how you get on so others can benefit.

Thanx for the advise but my co-worker took it apart without reading the instructions I gave him (didn't remove clip or plug) and now the tiny wires in the ribbon are severed. He tried to splice them with tape but it looks like I'm gonna have to search for a new click wheel. Although my mini has 4G of memory in it and the seller said it is second generation, it doesnt have 4G printed on the back. Is this normal? Just want to make sure I get the right click wheel.
