ipod mini crashing

Yes, it is another mini that has bit the dust.

After dropping my ipod, the thing would not turn on, folder and sad icon both present. Reset and disk mode does not work. Neither does updater, it is not recognized as a USB device

I take it apart and put FLASH card in to troubleshoot and see if hard drive and it still does not work. Then here is the twist, I hooked up the microdrive to a CF card reader and instead of being locked, the drive works and all files can be read.

Are there any suggestions in making this thing work again?

well... im pretty sure your hard drive is done. Maby when you where putting the hard drive in the reader you hit it slightly and it came back temperarily. I had similiar ipod problems. I bought a mini for $50 and it dislplayed the sad icon i was aware of this when i bought it, i banged the mini and the hard drive came back for a day than went out again.

here is my story

I ended up busting it more taking it apart. Now that i fully understand the mini i feel confident on taking it apart. So i bought another mini for $100 that needed a new clickwheel that was supposed to be a 2nd gen but wasnt and my 2nd gen clickwheel wouldnt work in it. So here i am spending another $50 on a 1st gen clickwheel hopefully it should work. See you try to save money and end up spending more. Well anyways thats my story, hope you get yours fixed
