need help pulling off songs off ipod mini

i just got used ipod with a lot of free, hard to come by music.
i know that installing itunes will wipe my 'pod and i need some one to show me a third party site to help me get the music off. also, i could use a battery changing lesson.

Do this before installing iTunes: Connect your iPod. It will be recognized as an external drive. Then download Yamipod (www.yamipod.com (http://www.yamipod.com)) and run it. Select all files shown, right click on any one of them and choose "Copy to...". Then select a folder.
