dropped ipod, now comp wont recognize it

i dropped it
now when i connect it it still charges, but has erased all my songs, or hidden them since it still says i only have 2 gig left instead of the full 4
so it charges but my comp wont recognize it


anyone have any ideas

Does it boot up. Does it display an errors like the sad ipod icon. Is there a clicking sound inside the mini. If you have one of the simtoms up above its most likely that the hard drive is gone. If not you probably just have to restore the ipod which will result in song losses.
