Just installed Podzilla by following this tutorial:
1. First download the Ipod Linux installer (http://www.kun.org.uk/simpleipl.zip)
2. Now, download Podzilla (http://ipodlinux.org/builds/2005-12-30-podzilla.gz) and the Kernal (http://ipodlinux.org/builds/2005-12-30-kernel.bin.gz) to go with it.
3. Put them all in separete folders, so you don't get confused.
4. Extract the file named "2005-12-30-kernel.bin.gz" and rename the extracted file to "linux.bin"
5. Extract the file named "2005-12-30-podzilla.gz" and rename it to "podzilla" NO EXTENTION
6. Now, open notepad and copy and paste this in it:
mv /hp/podzilla /sbin
rm /hp/start
Thats the installer, save it as "Start" and make sure there is no extention on it. Not Start.txt, not Start.doc, it has to be Start. Now keep this file off to the side
7. Copy the file you named Linux.bin to the folder where you extracted simpleipl.zip, when asked to overwrite say, yes.
8. Now run ipodlinux-installer.exe
9. choose wether you want Podzilla to launch at startup or the regular mac one(i say Podzilla) and make sure to save a backup. Also make sure "Check for updates" is not checked(thats not for ipod minis)
10. Keep pressing next until it says you can disconnect your ipod...DO NOT DISCONNECT YET, DOOOO NOOOTTT DISSCCOONNECCTT
11. Go to My computer, and find the drive with your ipod(mine is O: for example) and in the root of it "O: in my case" paste the files Start and Podzilla.
12. Disconnect your Ipod, don't eject from itunes, just disconnect
13. Now your ipod will reboot, and go through some freaky stuff, then boot podzilla!!!! wooties
Now remember:
If you want to boot to regular ipod(better for playing music) Hold Menu and the circle button, when it shows the apple, hold "play" ( the one like >|| )
If you want to go back to podzilla, hold >>|(fast foward) at the apple screen.
It was working fine and all but when I went to Power> Quit Podzilla it just wont't quite. There's this screen and whenever I touch the click pad something appears on the screen. For example
If I press >>[Fast Forward] the words fr appear.
If I press <<[Rewind] the words w or wl appear.
If I connect the iPod Mini to my computer nothing happens. Im just waiting for the battery to run out. You guys got any suggestions?
