My question : How would i rename a playlist on my mini 4 gb ipod.

Questions that follow: why dont you just use itunes to change it?

Back ground: i have installed an auxiliry input into my car. the device is made by Usa spec. This device allows me to play music from the ipod thru the factory radio if my car. Functionality such as skip between songs, and allowing me to choose from 5 different playlists, as well as a secondary input. In order to use my ipod with this device i must rename my playlists with an exact naming convention. I shall not advertise the make / model of my vehicle as it is such a POS. lets just call it a " pile " Back to the naming conventions. . . each of the playlist must be named :"PILE_1", " PILE_2", and so on. Once the usa spec device sees those names it will link each playlist to the correseponding buttons on the preset buttons on my radio.

Does anyone know how to rename a playlist on an ipod without using a computer. Its just a matter of convienence while Im on the road ( pulled over )I'd prefer to rename a playlist if my mood changes.

If anyone has any ideas im welcome to it.

Theres not a way. You have to go through iTunes and rename the playlist, and you have to use the same computer to change the name. iPod isn't a PDA, but it's getting close with Linux and everything else. I agree you should be able to rename songs and folders and all that. Mabye soon...
