Ok... Ive got one major problem... Okay... first off, I know enough about iPods and iTunes and Mac's and Windows systems (only stating this because I'm new here) but my problem... When ever I go under the bios menu for my iPod mini, and run the harddrive test, it runs a little bit, the backlight comes on, and then at the bottom, it says "Fail!" Now any person with a brain and a slack knowledge of computers knows that that is a bad thing.
Now... the main reasons it got this way... is because well 1) It got really slow a while back, then occasionally it would just stall, or just plain stop, then I would have to either let it blank out, or hook it up to the computer. and 2) One day, it just plain stopped, while we were on the way to the Apple store... and when we got there (by the way we weren't going there because of my iPod) I showed it to one of the guys working there, and he just kinda plugged it into an iMac. Well... I forgot to tell him that my iPod was formatted for windows... so... it doesn't work anymore. And I am not exactly sure what I should do...
I've been told that I should just attempt to reload the thing and see if it detects the hard drive then... and I've also been told that I should sue the Apple store for neglegence, but it was my fault so I see no reason to. And Ive also been told I should just get a new one, or have them fix it.
Well... getting a new one, would be kind of expensive, considering I wouldn't even get a mini... fixing it would be about $60 (while not that expensive, I don't exactly have enough money to do this, but could easily get ahold of it if I tried)... and reloading it would require the use of my best friends computer (he has windows xp, while I, I am stuck with 98 (but when I got the iPod we had XP, but my dad didn't like that computer)) so... what should I do all... I need to know if reloading the iPod will make it detect the hard drive, if any one of you has had this problem before... or should I just pitch the money and fix it the other ways...
GR

Oh... and it's a 4Gb Mini... but I doubt that matters...

60 bucks...you can just go to the Apple store and they'll give you a new one for free.

Apple doesn't really want to replace you a new iPod for free unless you have warranty. They will come up with excuses, and since the troubles on your iPod were caused by you installing 3rd party software, they may not offer any help at all

F-uck that man, Don't mention the 3rd party software and they have to replace it. It's their policy. Just say, "I'm not leaving here until you fix my Ipod or get me a new one"
