IPOD error is killing me

I hope someone knows how to fix my error. I have a IPOD mini 4gb. Everytime I try to update my ipod I get this error Attempting to copy to the disk "IPOD"failed. The disk could not be read from or written to.

I have reset and restored the stupid thing so many times I am getting ready to throw it in the trash!!!:mad:

I was having the same problem. What happened, in my case, is ITunes 7 and XP and my ipod didn't play well together. Went looking for all sorts of help, no one had any, so I simply uninstalled itunes and downgraded back to itunes 6 and have had 0 problems.

If you do this, google itunes 6, find a download site that is NOT apple. dl it. Uninstall your current itunes (that is IF you are using the new 7) completely. There is a folder for itines in both "Program Files" and under "My Documents". Kill both of those AFTER you remove itunes via the add/remove progams.

Install 6 and go to town. You will have to import all of your tunes, but it DOES work.

I am using a 1st Gen. Ipod Mini 4gig and have had 0 problems since i downgraded.

:Hi there i had a simular problem, keept trying and got the same errors as you and it wrecked my head, but i think i found a souloution.
In windows i went to
administrator tools (found in the control panel)
-services
and started the i re-started the ipod services, then the ipod was visible under my computer, i then formatted the i pod with windows quick format (right click the ipod icon ) i then restarted the ipod and then restarted my computer plugged it back in, itunes saw it as a new ipod then it sync ok, its now back to nornal.
